brake the pierceing winds of winter, and the melting rays of "old Sol" in the Summer. Progress in all that pertains to successful school operations has most decidedly marked the past month. While the total enrollment and average attendance was small, the progress was none the less gratifying. Nearly every pupil reported can spell almost any word in the English language, and read in the first reader.- answer intelligent questions in Geography and Arithmetic. I drill the whole school in the Tables &c Music. This interesting useful and healthy exercise receives some attention every day. I think it is conducive to physical, mental and moral development, and therefore, it should be taught in all Schools, not only as recreative, but as scientific exercise. It adds much to the interest and improvement of a School.
