I made myself responsible for the first month's rent.
I regret that I was misinformed by the persons I applied to in September (although I do not think it was intentional) but failing to find Mr Fowler, and one or two of the prominent colored men, at home, when I visited there, it was necessary for me to obtain information from other parties who were supposed to know the actual condition of School affairs.
The present School Building is owned by Mr. Wm. A Jones of Marion.
The Bricks in the kiln are supposed to be worth fully $750.00, with an indebtedness of $250.00 according to the statement of Mr. Fowler.
Very Respectfully
C S Schaeffer
