Norfolk, Va., Nov. 3. ,1869.

Rev R. M. Manly,
Supt. Education.
Dear Sir:

Both branches of our City Council have voted $4000.- For the colored schools, but the Select Council will have to concur in the action on a minor point, before we get the money. This, however is sure.

Can you help us to a small slice of the "Peabody Fund?"

I shall be at the American Missionary Rooms 53. John St N. Y. next Monday morning, to try and arrange for co-operation with them.
