Lunenburg County Va Nov 9th 1869

R. M. Manly Supt. Richmond Va

Dear Sir

Mr John Thompson has called for the use of his house in which I was teaching so that I had to close my school on Nov. the first. You said in your letter some time ago that if the colored here would aid in Building of a house, that will answer for a School house and also for religious use. The people here [[?]] agreed to aid in the work. Some have said that they would give as high as $10. & $5. & $3. Those are one individual, all are ready waiting to see what will you do, for us. Mr WmSon said that he will give the sand for the Building, and also furnish the timber and Build the house.

Please as soon as you read this letter send me one in return. The people want the house done by next June. I expect to return back to Washington D.C. in this month. Will you give me a transportation to Washington. I expect to return back next year and remain as a teacher here for this people.

Respectfully Yours
Wm A. Thompson
