Sir  Major Remington has shone me a letter from you in reference to the school at Gettys Station Norfolk Co. of which I am teacher. He also handed me a blank report which I have filled up and enclosed herewith. I have been teaching there ever since the 16th of August Last, but the people are so poor that they have been able to pay me only nineteen dollars and eighty five cents ($19.85 cts) in all for my services which is not enough to pay my board [[strikethrough]]which[[/strikethrough]] I feel without you can aid us out of the Peabody funds the school will have to be closed.
