Nov. 28th 1869.

Rev. R.M. Manly

My Dear Sir,

I write you at this time to ascertain if there are any vacancies in the colored schools in Richmond or vicinity over which you have charge. I have been trying to content myself here in Mo. among friends & all the privileges of a Western city, but I cannot still the call that comes into all of my quiet hours from the colored race of the South. I think Mr. Burbank has the same desire to labor in Va. There was a colored school in Atchison, Kansas which he would have taken if he had not hoped that you would have found him something in Richmond, he is now teaching a select school here in Cameron,
