Waverly Station.

Rev. R. M. Manly
Sir.
Mrs. Jennings informed me that you wished a letter from me. And I now address these few lines hoping that as she placed me here as substitute. She being unable to stand the exposure of these country houses you will see fit to retain me in this school. The children are all at work picking. Peas and therefore I have but a small number as yet the Sunday school is large and many of the grown people come and show a great desire to learn. I shall need for the use of the scholars who are unable to buy Books some spellers and arithmetics, if you have any to give you.
