Sir,
I have been quietly waiting expecting you to send me the rent for my house for the months of August, Sept, October, as usual, never having been notified that the rent would not be paid, the house being occupied by the same party all the time, that is the negro who taught the freedmen's school here, & now he shows me a letter from you, saying you do not pay rent for vacation, is it fair that I should lose this rent, when I could have made it if you had notified me of this beforehand. I consider it very bad treatment when I was trusting to your honor for the pay of this rent to be told afterwards you did not pay for vacation & then afterwards pay $8.00, & would
