My Dear Sir:

I have inquired of Mr. Philip Johnson col'd preacher, about the opening of a school in his locality. He is anxious to have one opened, but there seems to be no one likely to teach it at the price which the people are willing to pay. The man Anderson is not willing to teach it unless he gets $1 a month apiece; which is more than they are able to pay at present. I mentioned the assistance which you offered, but it does not seem to tempt him much. I will inform you of any change in the condition of affairs.
