Dear Sir,

I have the honor to ask you for an appropriation of forty dollars to enlarge and repair the [[strikethrough]] school [[/strikethrough]] Freedman's School House at New Glasgow Amherst County. Their school has been taught in it for the last year.   But it never was completed.   It must be repaired, or  completed, to accommodate all it must also  be enlarged.  The people help some in supporting the School but do not complete the  house on the plea that they are unable.  The school numbers "40" enrolled.  The report sent you of it for November has "15" average attendance.  I dont know exactly what the average attendance
