who for some time past has done all the teaching. That foolish letter no doubt is the work of Mr. Scott, for some selfish ends. I will have him put out of the way as soon as I can visit the school which will be next week.

Mr. Lynch is a good man but lacking in education. So you see I can not have him continue the school unless I find him more competent than I have reason to expect him to be. Hence the school must necessarily be without a teacher until I can get one for them. Thus far comparatively nothing is done of the new house, on account of Mr. Scott's faithlessness. I know that now some of the conditions are wanting on which I asked for the appropriation. But I know that they will build the house if I say so. In view of these things shall I return you the $50 or shall I have them build the house and get them a teacher as [[strikethrough]] you [[/strikethrough]] soon as I can?

I do not think you have a report of the Yellow Branch School for November . The teacher left duplicate reports with me - one for Headquarters in Phila. and the other Headquarters in Richmond. By mistake I forwarded both to Phila. The Enrollment of the school is 69. Average attendance 45. I will get him to make out another copy. No, I have the means at hand to make a report which I will enclose

Very Respectfully
Your Obedient Servant
