colored people have not any school open now, that I am aware of- The colored people of Warrenton are very loyal, with a very few exceptions, and are very desirous of having a school, they have a school house and furniture their own- I helped them to make up the papers and deeds you sent them- they have trustees and if a colored teacher could be sent them I know he would be appreciated, a white teacher would have a miserable time with the white people.
  Since my own difficulties with the lawyers I am there but little- during court and once a week- but when I am there I write many letters for the colored people and receive answers in my case- sometimes finding their children or parents scattered over the country,
