Sabbath Morning 1st, 2nd 1860

Dear friend
On Steamer en-route to West Point.  Very rainy and will probably prevent me from visiting Tolivers Farm this PM.  At York Sound met Gen. Armstrong with two teachers enroute for Williamsburg.  Went there in company.  It will be best to put a direct rent on the house there in the name of James A. Fields and James W. Edlow as tey are the teachers.  At Magruder Merit R. Wallis is the teacher.  At Yorktown Samuel S. Harden and all commence tomorrow and have been promised $15. per month each.
