Rev R M. Manly,

Yours of the 3rd was rec'd, inclosing the $4.00 for the rent of the school. In my last letter I sent you $1.26 for the Dictionary. My school increases slowly. Mr. Anderson has raised the rent to $6.00 a month. Mr. Jones says it is to much and if he refused to let us have it for the same we have been paying to remove the desks etc. to Mr. Allens. But they are crowded now. Mrs. Allen says she is willing to do all she can for the benefit of the school, but it would be very inconvenient to give up her room, but if we cannot get another place, she is willing to give it up. I told Mr. Allen if he was willing I would take $2.00 of the money the night scholars will pay me for the teachers board, and put with the $4.00
