I will pay you rent, $10. per month for the present
Hanover county, virginia
January 13th 170
Mr Manly dear sir
I am pleased to be able to write to you at the time stated in a previous letter of mine with information in regard to my school which I hope will be of more satisfaction to you as to the certainties of an average attendance of thirty pupils per day during the months the required complement of the bureau. I am glad to inform you Mr. Manly that there is no doubt sir I don't believe as to my being able to make a report of 30 pupils and over agreeable to the established rule of the bureau. The fact is that I have told the people they must give an attendance of 30 scholars per day during the month or the school will not be supported in any shape or form and not wishing to shut their children out of school being sensible of it at the same time, they have finally determined to send the children to school and in so doing came up to all the requirements of the office in charge of this work of education.
If the reception of this will meet your approbation and is sufficient to assure you of all needed certainties this of the school programs. I am happy to know that it is in my power to satisfy you
Yours with much Respect
William P Brown
