Mr. R.M. Manly, Supt of
Education Richmond, VA.

Sir, I regret to say that my School can not advance as it ought to, owing to the Pecuniary Disability of the parents and guardians to purchase such books as their children need. This is a great pullback. the books now Needed for immediate use are Readers, containing a "Course of Instruction In elocution, reading and Declamation, and English Readers; Elementary Grammar, elementary Geographies; and books of history. So, it would be a favor long remembered by me and those I represent if you will communicate the above to an educational society or other charitable association or its Agents, to respectfully invite their attention to the Issue, and trusting in the generosity of their nature to contribute as they may see fit to the wants of the School. Any books and Sabbath School Tracts will be thankfully received.
I have no blanks with which to report the Present Month.
You will oblige by answering the above at an Early Day.
Very truly Yours, &c.
Chas. W. Carter
