Amelia C.H. Va, April 23rd / 70.

Dear Bro. Manly,
I received your letter and was glad to hear that you liked the arrangement which I had made. You know we always feel stronger with the approval of others. And it has proved to be very successful and seems now to be all the way which would please all.
I commenced with four white scholars the first morning and had mine colored ones in the afternoon. The numbers has increased to thirty one in all but as they have to be present five days in order to be reported, I have given in but twenty-eight.
I wrote to Bro, Brackett of you, and he sent me two blanks and wished me to send you one and him the other, and I have filled them out as this month closed last Wednesday, and will send you one of them. I have not yet decided when it would be best to have a vacation, but as the interest is very good I think it best to make this term a pretty long one. I am very thankful for your favor and especially for what you wrote me with regard to that money.
