Mr. R. M. Manly,
Dear Sir,
I am informed there is Rent paid through you for School houses. Could the Trustees of my School obtain that Rent? They need it very badly our building is unpaid for, we owe nearly 100$, we have no desks, and are destitute of many things necessary for carrying on successfully, a school. I believe I wrote you before, I supported myself, as I am not under any Society whatever. If we can obtain the Rent, will you please inform me of the necessary formula to go through, and will you send me the blank receipts for Rent, also. I understand the money came from the Freedmen's Bureau. Will the Peabody Fund continue another year? I am desirous of teaching here again and that is a help, little as it is. Hoping to hear from you soon and ask favorably.
Remain respectfully yours
Emma F. Haslam
Can we not get Rent for the whole time the school has been opened?
