Lincoln School May 11, 1870. Rev. R. M. Manly, Respected Sir. I was sorry that I did not see you the day I was up to Richmond; in fact I did not recognize you when at your office or I would have spoken then I hope you will pardon me for my negligence. The children are getting on nicely in their studies, and I have sent to Mr. Jones, (through Mr. Early) for more books, as I am in great need of them at present.
