Supt of Education,
Richmond, Va.
Dear Sir;
I have the honor to inform you that that Pa. Freedmen's Relief Association will close their schools of this part of the state on the first of June next. Among these schools are several that have commenced but a few months ago and are now in a flourishing position. It would of of course be an advantage to such communities if they could keep up their schools a month longer. Some of them have proposed to do so if they can get a little aid. - Would the Bureau help these schools some for a month or two longer? I mean would it pay those teachers ten Dollars (or a less amount) per month direct them?
The Schools I refer to are:
1. New London, Campbell Co opened March 1st;
2. Hulcombe Rock Bedford Co opened Jan. 15th;
3 Spout Springs Appomattox Co opened April 15;
