would aid for the present term that many of them were debarred by the arrangements into which they had entered before it could be certainly ascertained from attending at this term I should be glad to continue with them and should like to know early enough to apprize them of what they may depend upon. I think if I could do this the attendance would be much larger and if I could know it early enough I could make better arrangements myself. Having a small farm and being a setler they are much more easily enabled to pay in labor to aid in the education of their children than they would be under other circumstances. I shall apply to the society to aid them another term and shall be thankful for your assistance to that end. It may be several years and I think will before my children would have another opportunity to attend school if this school is closed. and I think the Freedmen are more alive to the importance of keeping it up than they have ever been. Please use every reasonable means to secure them for another term to oblige.
