of the little children who can come barefoot, and get their first lesson in the summer days. When Sunday School is a most important branch opportunity to many that get no other.
  I have had also a [[strikethrough]] first sort of Lyceum Class two nights a week so far & shall continue as night school.

  Miss Holley is with me, & our work, in one form or another, is increasing.
  I earnestly hope your office in Richmond, & valuable support of Education in this state are to continue. The General Government will commit a fearful mistake to leave these schools to Virginia to manage. 
  It will be a cruel abandonment of the freedmen.
