I have the honor to make the following report of Schools in my Div comprising the Counties of Washington Russell Buchanan Scott Lee and Wise for the month of July 1867 as follows.
There are two day schools in this Div one at this place , and one at Saltville the School here is taught by Flora Wallace (cold) and has Twenty Five Schollars. The School at Saltville is taught by Mr Barkly White and has between thirty five and Forty pupils. Both School are supported by the Freedman them selves. The Workmen are going ahead with the the repairs on the School house here and it will be completed by the 1st of October when completed it will accommodate over 300 pupils. The Eight Sunday Schools in this Div are very well attended to but are poorly Supplied with books and papers they are doing good and learning the children to Spell
