by schools at least, and many of them will not, I fear, until compelled to do so by law.
The only school at present in the County of Goochland, is the one at Maniken taught by Miss Scott a colored lady of good education; and her school seems to be in a flourishing condition, so far as numbers and progress are concerned. Miss Rose Morris a young white lady and daughter of Dr. Morris of Goochland C.H. is thinking of reopening her school which has been suspended several months,
Miss Morris taught a freedman's school last year, & is, I understand a good teacher. I have given her some encouragement in regard to re-opening the school by promising to get, if possible, some aid for her in the way rent for school-room.
