The probable number of pupils that will attend the day school will be from fifty (50) to seventy-five (75). The state of public sentiment with referance to schools for Freedmen is becoming more favorable. I will take the liberty of mentioning the names of those gentlemen who are strongly in favor of educating the colored people, viz Samule Ford Esq. U.S.A assessor, Dr John A Smith, John W. Potts. It is proposed to levy a tax of one dollar on the parents of the scholars to defray the incidental expences of the school. Very Respectfully Your Obdt Svt Jas Drysdale 2nd Lieut VRC A.
