| The cost of land for sites would be trifling- In any of the localities named below, land could be secured for from $15. to $25 per acre.- I think one large School in each District would accommodate all as follows viz. No. 1. Curdsville No 2. B.C. House No 3 New Canton No 4 Near Female Institute No 5 Zanesville No 6 Dugurdeville I would suggest that the Buildings be at least 40 x 70 ft. Two stories - Two Rooms on each floor - &c A Building of this description, completed with Benches &c - also, outbuildings & fences, would cost rent less than from $1800. - to $2000. - Log buildings could be constructed at about 2/3 the above cost. | I think all the Teachers employed in this Co. would have to be brought from the North, unless it be a few colored persons who can teach quite young children- Boarding convenient to the proposed locations, could be obtained for from $3. to $5 per week - Washing not included.- | Outside of the colored people, I am convinced no aid can be relied upon, at this time. My opinion is that the Buildings, cost of employing Teachrs, Books, &c would have to be paid for by the Government for some time.- The colored people can do but little, as a general thing in this county, they are very poor. | I know of no Govt Buildings or lands in this County. |
