if any, of the necessary expenses of the school they will become responsible for; this letter is dated Aug 4th and no reply has yet been received, the Board having had no meeting since that date; the reply will be forwarded as soon as received.
The freedpeople do not appreciate the benefit of educationi sufficiently to enforce the attendance of their children at school and I doubt exdeedingly whether the attendance in any part of the county would warrant maintaining a teacher and the other expenses after the first few months.
