great rains there is sufficient room however to build on that is always out of reach of high water, cost of Building nine hundred dollars and two hundred for the land. At Blacksburg the only Building that is available is one situated just out side the limits of the town on a lot containing nearly one acre of ground. The Building is a large frame house containing four rooms, and can be fitted up at a cost of about ($200) two hundred dollars, the price asked for the Building and land as it now stands is nine hundred dollars, On Newbern the freedmen have purchased a piece of land which is valuable in the immediate vicinity of the town, and request assistance in repairing the Building which can be done at a cost of ($300) three hundred dollars, At Parisburg a colored man owns a house and lot which can be purchased for ($300) three hundred dollars or rented for thirty dollars per anum, it will cost ($200) two hundred dollars to repair it suitable for a school house, the following named persons have expressed themselves favorably towards the Establishing of schools for freedpeople at Christiansburg Messrs William Barnity and Gabriel Rouser
