associations have not the means to pay the teachers salaries, if the government could pay the teachers, schools cold be rapidly organized.  Teachers are bing trained in the advanced school who in a year or two will make excellent teachers of their own race.  There are at present 13 colored teachers in this division.
The opposition manifested by a majority of the white residents to the education fo the colored race, is becoming less hostile, and except perhaps in a few cases, no obstacles exist to present the opening of new schools, if the means are furnished by the government.
The teachers and superintendents of schools new in operation carry on their work with great zeal and determination and deserve great credit for their success in teaching.  The relations existing between the superintendents of the various societies and the bureau are of the best character
