Wise Farm Princess Anne Co. Va.
March 12th 1867
Major Gen O.O. Howard
Commissioner B.R.F and A.L.
Washington D.C.
Sir
In compliance with Cir No 5 C.S. I have the honor to report that I called upon the teachers having charge of schools in this Co. of which there are two, and under the auspices of the A.M.A. and informed them of the necesity of making prompt reports on Blanks furnished by the General Superintendant of schools for state. These schools are located on the "Henry A Wise Farm" and the buildings used were originally built for Carriage Houses, Sheds &c and after being used about four years they have became almost unfit for school purposes, they are in such bad repair. I would suggest that during vacation, new school houses be built, or that they be repaired and, on the whole they would hardly pay to repair.
If a new one should be built I would recommend that it be so constructed, that it could be moved to any part of the Co. then in the event of this farm being restored it could be removed elsewhere. I have no suggestions to make as regards improvements or deficits in conducting school, think that they are well conducted and under good discipline. They are also well attended.
