the attendance would greatly increase. Mrs Riley has but few books and a dozen slates. She teaches from 9 am. till 4 o'clock P.M.  also conducts a Sunday School. The building she uses belongs to a freedman who failed in business and allows the house to be used on condition of its being completed by the patrons of the school. He will occupy it next year. Mrs. Riley and her friends are trying to secure a lot wherever to erect a good School building. 
In addition to the above, the freedmen about Eastville have secured a lot for a School house; And a tract of eleven acres near Belle Haven Accomac Co is about to be purchased for the same purpose.
Lieut. Sherman A.S.A.C is negotiating on behalf of freedmen for a school house lot in Drummondtown Accomac Co.
