at home evenings and Sundays. I can learn of nothing like a school organization of this kind however. The freedmen generally seem to have an idea that they should be taught free and are not very ready to support private schools. They are looking forward to the general establishment of free schools by the state action which will be the only means of affecting general education among them outside of the towns in my opinion.
