General,
I have the honor to submit the following Report in regard to Education among the freedmen in this District for the month ending October 31-1868.
The schools in this Division are generally in a good condition. One school, that taught by Gilbert Cox at [[Union?]] Church in Goochland County was discontinued as the first of this month. The house occupied as a schoolroom had no windows or stove in it, and the freedmen not feeling able to put the house in proper condition for cold weather, the teacher decided to give up the school.
