General:

Pursuant to Cir No 17. C.S. H'd Qrs Asst Comr Sate [[State]] of Va I have the honor to report that I have made a personal inspection of the Freedmens School in the Discts under my charge.

The following Schools were established by Friends Freedmens Association of Phila' in Jany 1863, and are still under their Control Viz:

These schools since their organization have been productive of incalculable good, have been well managed and the association has been extremely fortunate in its choice of Teachers.  The Schools will close May 15th 1868.
