to believe however that the school though small is prospering under the administration of Mr. Lazenby
The School at Fincastle taught by Mack R. Lloyd is very flourishing. The worthy zeal and perseverance of its teacher are in themselves almost a guarantee of success. The evidence of which are plainly seen in the excellent discipline and rapid progress of the scholars. Mr. Burton at Buchanan has a very good school and is in all respects an efficient teacher. Mr. Forrest at this place has not met with that success that would probably have resulted from a vigorous effort to further the cause of Education. The attendance during the month of October has been much smaller than usual owing to the employment of many scholars in assisting the gathering of the Crops The average attendance is about 50 scholars in Liberty and Buchanan Schools and about 60 at Fincastle. The school buildings are well kept and clean and the schools well disciplined.
