In compliance with circular No. 17, 1867, I have the honor to state that I have made a careful inspection of the Schools in this county during the past two months and am please to inform you that some of them are making great progress.

The school kept by the Waldron Sisters at Halifax Court House is a most excelent school, good order and discipline, a strong desire on the part of the children to learn and an equally strong effort on part of the teachers has made this School in every particular an excellent School, greater progress is being made in this school, than any I have ever seen, taking the aggrigate.

The School kept by Miss Townsend at News Ferry is an other excellent School. the children are making good progress and the teacher being of the same color feels anxious for the success of her school, and she is meeting with a good degree of success. we have had the School House put in tolerible good condition. the past month, the teacher talks of leaving there when this term expires. if she does
