| Case of Sarah Nelson continued | Addressed Jan 12th Surgeon Bush US Vols Med Purveyor for information in regard to the building referred to.  LB page 657 
Surgeon Bush Med Purveyor Dept N.C. writes Jan 15th that the building referred to is and has been for the last three years used as the Office and Depot of the Med Purveyor of Dept N.C. and cannot be vacated without loss to the Government. It is the only secure Store house and contains valuable Public Stores the hospital buildings are notoriously insecure. Much valuable property having been stolen from there it was necessary to remove valuable portable stores to the building referred to The final sale of Hospital property may not be far distant and the building not required longer. He is not a disbursing Officer and can pay no rent. A fair rent would be about $75 per month. He asserts the loss resulting from vacating it would be greater than the above consideration Bureau RF & AL Hd Qrs E Dist N.C. New Berne Jan 17th 1866 Respectfully returned with reference to enclosed correspondence between myself and Dr Rush Med Purveyor. The property in question has been turned over to the Bureau not as no longer required for Military purposes but in accordance with provisions of Gen Order No 110 AFC June 9th 1865 It is still needed and apparently indispensable I would |

Pirnest of Goldsboro makes notes June 27th 1865 for $1500 in gold and interest for 90 days to Adolph Cohn or order, payable at Park National Bank N.Y. Endorsed to order of Murray & Nephew by A Cohn. Endorsed in blank by Murray & Nephew. The note is now the property of Right Knight (cold) was returned from NY protested and Cohn has refused payment. Jan 17th Wrote Co.
