10 Bible House, N.Y.
Jany 8th 1866

O.O. Howard
Major General, Commissioner &c

Dear Sir,
We have sent two teachers (females) to Newberne, N.C. Have you an agent there? If so, what is his name? Will you not instruct him to render what aid he can to the ladies? Their names are Miss Harriet A. Chapin and Miss Marian Wendell. Is there any building in the hands of the Government which they could use? How can these ladies obtain rations? Will you be so kind as to instruct the proper Government offices, and inform me of what I must do in the [[crossed out]]connexion [[/crossed out]] premises?

Transcription Notes:
I think the last word is premises.
