Sir
Lt Dodge called here last evening on his way to Williamston and I gave him the necessary instructions for working his district.
As regards the change of district I like it very much and will be obliged to you to forward the necessary orders by the return mail - as by the present arrangement I can do nothing in either place.
Enclosed you will find communication from Hertford Co and I have a similar one from Gates Co and if you will send 200 Indenture blanks I think I can set the ball a roling to some purpose (Send the necessary Order to take charge of those Counties) Send bill of blanks and I will make them pay for them.
If you don't like this arrangement I wish you would send Mr Hubbard to Washington Co to collect the rents as it is simply impossible for me to do it with my other duties.
I believe Daniel Bakers acct a just one and should be paid and if you will give an order on me for the amount I will either pay Daniel Baker or Col Jones as you may direct- The bale of cotton 492 lbs is stored at Plymouth what has become of Lt Swartz I should like to hear very much please write by return mail Capt Plagart who will hand you this can give you more valuable information.
