To the Citizens of Lake Road
Mr John Oreton of Jessee has asked me to say a few words to you in regard to raising Funds for a School House
I would say to the People of that Vicinity, that it seems to be Natural for those of the Colored People that have been Slaves, to try and get an Education, which in my opinion is the best thing that can be done for all concerned, and no disadvantage to anyone. I would therefore recommend that all of the Colored People in and about the vicinity of "Lake Road" take hold with a willing hand and construct a School House suitable for a School House and Large enough for a Church also.
