rent for this property if put on the market.
The lot is situated on Broad street one of the principal streets in New Bern it fronts on Broad Street one hundred & seven feet running back two hundred fourteen feet on said lot is situated this house which contains three large rooms also a large stable and other out houses. There is no divider fence behind this lot and the one occupied by my family, and would much prefer to have possession of the property than even the highest named figures which it would command.
You can therefore readily see that I could not be satisfied with accepting the first named by Captain Seely.
There are houses here which the owners are anxious to rent, I mention this from the fact that for some time past houses were difficult to obtain during all this time refrained from pressing any claim.
I have written the above not designing to cast the highest reflection on Capt Seely but think as the matter is to be referred to you that I should in justice to myself make this statement.
Very Respectfully
Yours
William H Oliver
