Thos. Lindsay White says that I live about 3/4 mile from the residence of the late John P. Morton. I was notified by Mr Hill of the murder and went at once to the house and saw Mrs Miller Dead. He followed the tracks of the party. Jacob Lovejoy (freed) was in company with us at the time

He found a track which appeared as if made by boots with narrow shank. The heel of the left foot was ran over to one side and had an iron on the inside of the heel but on the outside it was gone. The heel of the right boot had a full iron upon it

Jacob first discovered the track and said here is one of their tracks and it looked like his boots and wondered if they had been and stole his boots saying that he had not been at home once they had left the house
