Mr. Yasuo Kumyoshi [[Kuniyoshi]],

New York, N.Y.

Dear Kumyoshi [[Kuniyoshi]]:

I do hope that you will pardon me for my very tardy reply to your letter to me of May 28. I have been away from Washington for many a long day.

I am glad O'Connor sent along a recommendation which would help. If you want another, here it is:

You are one of the very best artists in our land and wholly and entirely American. It gives me real pleasure to commend you to the good graces of whomever you may meet. There can be no more worthy assistance rendered art than to make it possible for you to paint when and where you wish.

I look back at those fortunate days when we used to meet in Woodstock, New York. Let me pray that they will come again before too long.

My most cordial regards to your wife.

Sincerely yours,

Homer Saint-Gaudens
