WAR DEPARTMENT
THE ADJUTANT GENERAL'S OFFICE
WASHINGTON 25, D.C.

IN REPLY REFER TO AGPR_I
10 August 1945

Mr. Yasuo Kuniyoshi
Woodstock
New York

Dear Sir:
Reference is made to your letter of recent date in which you request permission to [[crossed-out]]re[[/crossed-out]]enter the Army.

Since 5 December 1942, when further enlistment of men between eighteen and thirty-eight years of age was prohibited by Executive Order of the President, it has been the policy of the War Department to obtain, insofar as possible, all of its manpower need through the operation of Selective Service and the normal induction and classification procedure. Therefore, only a limited number of men over thirty-eight years of age are being enlisted, and such enlistments are restricted to individuals with technical and specialized skills needed by the Army, and not obtainable through prescribed classification methods from within the Army.

Since it appears that do not possess such technical and specialized skills, I regret to inform you that your request for enlistment is not favorably considered.

Sincerely yours,
Edward F. Witsell
