This result would be disastrous 
Everything we cherish would be hopelessly destroyed.
[[strikethrough]] This result would be disastrous The changes would be profound. [[/strikethrough]] It might take hundreds of years for us to creep back to the present cultural level.
[[strikethrough]] Our life does not begin and end with the fact that we are [[/strikethrough]] [[strikethrough]] not only are we [[/strikethrough]] Besides being artists, we are also a part of the existing world. [[strikethrough]] We must face the fact that not only do we [[/strikethrough]] Not only [[strikethrough]] we must [[/strikethrough]] have to continue our work during this time but we must also [[strikethrough]] (insure its survival in the future) [[/strikethrough]] help destroy the faces that are menacing it existence
Art and War. Someway we have to bring these two seemingly incompatible things together.
Up to this time we have been barking up the wrong tree in our effort to place ourselves in relation to the war. 
We have organized under the name Artists Council for Victory. But I have learned [[?]]? that this organization has accomplished almost nothing.
We wanted to do propaganda and educational art---but for this job the government has expressed its preference for the work of commercial artist, the illustrator, the cartoonist, as opposed to the the contribution of fine artist.
[[strikethrough]] To expect [[/strikethrough]] It is futile to wait for the government to provide [[strikethrough]] is futile.
