Dear Yas:

We have been here nearly two weeks & I have not been too good a correspondent. The weather has been simply perfect and I have spent as much time as possible in the sun and in the water, I don't know just when I will be going up to New York, particularly in view of the fact that things seem to be getting along O.K. so far.

I have a letter from Mitch Wilder but cannot give him the dope he wants until I get back to N.Y. I consult with Josh, I agree with you that this is a very ticklish business & I don't want to put our foot into it. I think it is very significant that Equity has been drawn into it - shows again we are really giving an influence

The trip to Kansas was well worth it. I found genuine interest in Art & Culture generally, and a true desire for freedom of Expression, which is most encouraging. I talked to Maurice Sterns yesterday about the Salina Murals - he is on the Salina Art Commission you know - & confidentially he said the murals are crude, hastily done and he couldn't put up a battle for them, altho he had planned to do so. I suppose Helen has sent you a copy of Reynold's (Commissioner of Public Buildings) letter to Josh Cahn, saying that in view of the action by the Art Commission, they are closing the case. I don't know where this leaves us in the matter. Will also have to consult Josh about it & will probably call him the first of the week.

They are offering a series of forums here to-night called "Forum '49" - which is
