ARTISTS EQUITY ASSOCIATION

Artists Equity Association is now in its second year. Since its inception in March 1947 when we started with a handful of artists the membership has grown to over 1200. Its is the first time that American artists of every school have enthusiastically gotten together for a common cause which is to further the economic interests of artists and make effective their united voice. It is a professional, non-exhibiting, esthetically non-partisan and non-political organization representing the artists of America.

In our short existence we have accomplished a number of our primary objective but since our program involves solving professional problems that have long been untouched we will need time for research and establishing a basis of negotiation. We are confident that Equity can help to improve the economic status of the artist but we need you and all artists to put across our aims.

We are proud to be a co-sponsor of the 2nd Annual Woodstock Art Conference and hope that there will be many more of them for they form the bridge of human understanding on which we all can meet.
