I should like to say at this point that most organizations usually have constructive and unfortunately destructive forces at work. We all know that Equity is necessary for artists and it is something we have long awaited. Let's not just be passive or petty about it and have personal grudges inject a bad odor. There has been some gripping and misinformation circulated about by a few members of Equity and by some outsiders. Please investigate your information before spreading inaccurate facts. Our organization is conceived upon democratic principles. To make it work for everyone takes time and requires hard and persistent work.

The group of artists who organized Artists Equity invested the Executive Committee with power to function until a convention is held, at which time a Constitution was to be adopted. Every step that we have taken to date has been in accordance with the authority given to the Executive Committee. With such authority, we have prepared a Constitution and By-Laws. We have secured the best legal assistance, and to our good fortune Mr. Josh Cahn who volunteered on his own has drawn up this Constitution, besides giving us legal advice right along. Every effort has been made to make it a working democratic document. Most of you might have, of which a few and in my mind, too few have submitted changes. These have been discussed and incorporated into the Constitution. The Constitution will be brought up at our Annual Meeting and I hope adopted.
