Now what is the future of Artist Equity? First I think Artists Equity can help to inform the artist so that he knows how to protect himself. Second, to make it clear to the artist that through unity he can achieve economic betterment. Three, Artists Equity will lead the way in promoting art for the American people, by negotiating to have museums open their door to more and more contemporary art and contemporary exhibitions, for legislation which will be beneficial to the artists, to have a ministry of art, and a government sponsored program of education for art. Also to initiate conferences all over the United States along the lines for the Woodstock Conference, where artists, museum directors, collectors, critics, dealers can get together and discuss the artists problems as well as universalize art appreciation. We will work for better artist-dealer relationships, for the protection of the artists copyright, for opportunities for artists in schools, colleges and art schools. We will expose unfair practices and fight for fair practices and persecute infringers as well as provide for legal counsel, and all other expenses in selected cases where artists' rights are involved. I have already mentioned that we have a welfare fund. This fund is to be separately administered in a tax-exempt corporation. This will not only be used to assist artists in need, but for grants, research, education and any other means of working out a comprehensive policy of economic betterment. In short, Equity will continue its work and expand its efforts to improve the artists economic position in every possible way.
