There may still be some confusion as to what this means and I should like to say a few words about it.

Equity is all for State and Municipal Art Bills, as well as planned Federal Arts Program. Legislation on copyright and other protective measures for the artist would also be welcomed. In a sense this is political activity. If any proposed legislation would be detrimental to the economic welfare of the artist or threaten his freedom of expression, we would be impelled to take cognizance and do whatever we could to prevent its passage. This too would be political activity. Defending our organization and our members against the hysterical attack of Congressman Dondero involved political activity. All these instances, however, directly hinge on the livelihood of the artist. We would not and do not become involved in any political activity which does not directly effect the artist. We hop these few words help to clarify this difficult question.

In any association there are always hidden groups in great number who diligently serve and work hard for the good of the organization. To these workers Equity especially wants to express [[strikethrough]] their [[/strikethrough]] gratitude and thanks for their trust and belief without which we could not have accomplished very much or traveled this far.
